SEISMIC DETECTION OF FROZEN SOIL SUBGRADE ON QINGHAI TIBET HIGHWAY

2025-11-21

Objective

To conduct precise geophysical exploration of the internal structure of permafrost roadbeds on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, which can cause uneven settlement at the meter level due to thawing and settlement of permafrost roadbeds, leading to unevenness and cracking of the road surface. This will provide important basic data such as roadbed layer structure and artificial upper limit for the improvement and renovation project of Qinghai Tibet Highway;

Project Characteristics

The exploration area belongs to Qinghai Province and the Xizang Autonomous Region in terms of administrative division. It is a plateau peneplain landform area with the highest altitude and harsh climate conditions in the world, with an altitude of 5205 m, belonging to a low latitude and high altitude permafrost area;

Method

Joint detection method of active and passive seismic surface waves, and first arrival time tomography inversion technique;

Equipment

Ant-1C 5Hz 600 units, TB recorder, 80 kg acceleration hammer shock source;

Typical melting and sinking road sections

Node layoutExplain the results

Achievement: Interpreting the profile reveals the location, depth, thickness, and artificial upper limit depth of seasonal active layer subsidence.
